With so many health- and fitness-related apps flooding the market — in excess of 100,000 applications, according to market research — wading through and finding the best programs can be overwhelming.

To help, here are some of our favorites, all free on Android and iOS.

Enter a few details, such as weight, height and goal weight, and Lose It will help you come up with a daily calorie budget. Easily track calories in and out with barcode scanners for grocery items, a vast database of dishes and restaurant meals, and pre-programmed workouts.
