The Denver metro area is full of places and people that bring comfort, compassion and encouragement to someone whose life has been touched by cancer — whether patient, survivor or caregiver. The following is a solid but incomplete list of south metro Denver resources for those affected by cancer. Meditative Walks For the Seasons in Life
A collaboration between Denver Botanic Gardens and Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, this series of walks is designed to help those suffering from cancer “physically, emotionally and spiritually” and “restore a sense of vitality, presence and connection to our bodies and ourselves.” Meditative walks are scheduled four times a year at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Group size is limited. Call Robyn Tibert to register at 303-730-4715. The Cancer Journey as Reflected in the Japanese Art of Bonsai Another collaboration between Denver Botanic Gardens and Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, this program invites those diagnosed with cancer for an intensive, one-day workshop where participants “learn the five basic styles of Bonsai, tour the Bonsai Pavilion, style your own Bonsai species to take home and tend and apply the basic tenets of Bonsai to the cancer journey.” The class takes place once a year, usually in the fall, and registration is required.

Sites and Insights: Creatively Conquering Cancer
Uses color and art therapy via facilitator-led workshops, online workshops and retreats to help survivors and caregivers navigate the stress, grief and fear to better encourage healing. Has various workshops available in Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Metro Denver and Fort Collins.
